The Faith is in Danger of Dying Out – Pope Benedict XVI

It is easy to curse the darkness. There is much darkness all around us to curse. But will we be instruments of the fire of the Holy Spirit and alter this world for God?

The following is an excerpt from:
Pope Benedict XVI Calls Unity a “Supreme Priority”
The light that comes from God is being dimmed at this moment of history, … says Benedict XVI
VATICAN CITY, MARCH 12, 2009
“In our days, when in vast areas of the world the faith is in danger of dying out like a flame which no longer has fuel, the overriding priority is to make God present in this world and to show men and women the way to God. The real problem at this moment of our history is that God is disappearing from the human horizon, and, with the dimming of the light which comes from God, humanity is losing its bearings, with increasingly evident destructive effects.”
When I first read these words I was struck hard with the reality that the time we have been given by God is truly a gift and that we have work to do while we are in this world.
It is probably pretty safe to say that the reason the faith is in danger of dying out and the reason that God is disappearing from the human horizon is because we Christians are not doing a good enough job spreading and defending the faith. Not enough of us are shouting from the rooftops the truth of Christ and His Catholic Church. Many in our society have become so distracted by the ways of the world and all the entertainment and recreation that comes with it that seeing the importance of God’s presence on the human horizon has become nearly if not altogether impossible. It is possible for anyone of us to become spiritually blind!
Much of the task to preserve the presence of God in our world sits squarely on the shoulders of us men. Strong, faithful leadership is essential from the husband/father of a family, the priest of a parish and the bishop of a diocese as well as in every other area of society. But honorable, noble men do not just grow on trees. Godly formation and inspiration, body, mind & soul are a must for all men.
Above is an email (from a mailing list) that I received from Doug Barry who is part of www.radixguys.com (please check out their site). You can learn more about Radix here. If you ever have the chance to see Radix I would definitely go. I have seen them a few times now and they are unbelievable. These guys have a rock solid faith.
